A delegation comprising of Dean Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Kahtani, Vice Dean Dr. Khaled Abu Hasel and Department Heads visited the new laboratories of Faculty of Engineering.
The Delegation was received by Eng. Abdulaziz Al Jasser representative of Project Management (PSAU), Eng. Al Jasser gave a brief description of all the stages of implementation of the project that is near completion. A representative of the contracting company also explained about the project to the delegation and asked whether there are other requirements needed by the college before the final delivery of the project.
At the end of the visit Dean Dr. Mohammed praised the progress of the project stressing that the college of Engineering has received considerable attention from the Rector Dr. AbdulRahman Bin Mohammed Al-Asimi, especially in the provision of infrastructure for laboratories and equipment. This support helped us to make college of engineering in accordance with the international academic standards that reflected in college recently got the ABET accreditation. He was pleased to explain that this project comes within a series of projects offered by the university with a range of modern laboratories to college to contribute in improving the skills and raise the level of students in scientific and practical aspects. In addition he also emphasized that, the possibilities of using these plants in industries available in Kharj Province and also in the training of engineers working in government sectors and private laboratories.
It is noteworthy that this building was built on an area of 7725 m2 and a height of up to more than 10 m and comprises the following laboratories:
• High-pressure plant (Electrical Engineering)
• Joint Operations Laboratory (Civil Engineering)
• Construction Factory (Civil Engineering)
• Hydraulics Laboratory (Civil Engineering)
• Fluid Laboratory (Mechanical Engineering)
• Workshop blacksmithing (Mechanical Engineering)
• Carpentry workshop (Mechanical Engineering)
• Computer labs for industrial applications
• In addition to a number of classrooms and warehouses belonging to these plants
This is in addition to the main power plant that feeds this building with a capacity of 3.5 MVA.
