The College of Engineering at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University achieved first place in the Saudi local round of the 9th Gulf Robotics Challenge, outperforming all other Saudi universities participating in the competition. The challenge is organized by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in collaboration with the College of Engineering at Effat University.

The team from the Department of Electrical Engineering, consisting of Dr. Malik Al-Duhaimi and students Hamad Al-Owais, Omar Al-Mohsen, and Mishari Al-Buwairdi, accomplished this outstanding achievement, qualifying them to represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the final Gulf round.

The Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Ali Al-Drees, stated that this achievement is the result of continuous efforts to enhance the research and technical capabilities of the college’s students. He emphasized that the team developed innovative robotic solutions focused on agricultural and environmental applications, which is the main theme of this year’s challenge.

He added that the university is proud to represent the Kingdom in the final Gulf round and looks forward to competing with the top teams from other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

It is worth noting that the Gulf Robotics Challenge is held in two stages: local rounds in each country, followed by the final Gulf round. The competition aims to promote innovation in robotics and to develop technological solutions to societal challenges, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a creative and innovative generation in advanced technology fields.
