Under the patronage of Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University President Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Asimi and Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and the faculty of Engineering PSAU in collaboration with University of California, Irvine, USA and University of Quebec Canada A workshop entitled “The Future of Academic and Educational Co-operation between Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University and University of California-Irvine-USA and University of Quebec Canada” was held in Faculty of Engineering Auditorium in Al-Kharj.
The Workshop begun with the verses from the Holy Quran followed by the speech of Dean Faculty of Engineering Dr. Mohammed Bin Said Al-Qahtani. Dean Dr. Mohammed Al-Qahtani thanked the Rector and Vice Rectors and Deans for their kind cooperation in the international collaboration program, he also stressed that with the help of this program students acquire the skills and knowledge that will contribute to polish their skill and prepare them for their future assignments and this will also help in the growth and future of the nation, he also expressed his thanks and praised to the God Almighty. He also mentioned that the scientific research and the student project has an effective impact on the professional life of the participants i.e. students from the faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. He also appealed all the students to aim for such goals from first day of their university life to be participants in such programs. Dean Dr. Mohammed also expressed his gratitude towards University Rector, Vice Rector and members of the standing committee for the International cooperation for their solid base work and proper planning that will help the Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University achieve the goal of excellence that shows the vision and strategic planning of the University.
This was followed by a presentation from the University of California, International Collaboration Program Manager Dr. Ahmed El-Tawil, audio visual presentation was shown to the audience on the achievement that have been achieved over the past successful five years collaboration between PSAU-UCI-Irvine and University of Quebec Canada.
The vice Rector of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hamed in his speech stated that the Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University chose a clear vision of seeking excellence in education and towards a knowledgeable society, and his vice Rectorate works to achieve this vision through the strategic plan of vice Rectorate by the will of God Almighty. Dr. Al-Hamed added that the quality initiative shortens the time and the experience of others that helps us to invest effectively and this initiative of international cooperation and strategic partnership with prestigious institutions that have long experience and successful practices, helped us a lot. We Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz university became aware of this a long time ago and adopted a number of quality initiatives through signing a number of service contract with prestigious international universities such as University of California-Irvine and University of Quebec-Canada in addition with other successful agreements with universities and prestigious educational institutions.
University Rector Dr. Al-Asimi expressed his great delight to see the outcomes of international cooperation agreements that contribute towards the acquisition of knowledge and science that have had effective impact on the goals of the university since its inception. Dr.Al-asimi congratulated students on their outstanding efforts and urged them to do more. Dr.Al-asimi concluded with appreciation of Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Vice Dean and Faculty members for their efforts to achieve the American International Academic accreditation ABET, that will help the college and university towards the educational goals and achieve academic process at the college of Engineering.
Rector Dr. Al-Asimi honored Dr. Osama Saad Al-Dhafer Former Dean College of Engineering and Visiting Delegation From UCI and the Students who participated in the Summer Training of International Cooperation program.
The program was followed by the exhibition of the students work during the last summer, a detailed explanation was given by the student’s about the projects that have been implemented at the UCI-USA and UQ-Canada during their visit. These projects were supervised by the professor of the two universities. Thirty students from the faculties of Engineering and computer Engineering and Sciences participated in the ten weeks programs that included the Intensive English language study and training and research project.
On the Second day of visit UCI-USA delegation members Dr. Ahmed and Dr. Fadi Kudahi presented a workshop at the university sharing their experience of University of California Irvine in developing the educational process in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Al-asimi and vice rectors and deans and vice deans of colleges, it was discussed to upgrade the faculty members, development of educational process and the necessary decision making techniques , and lot of administrative experiences was also shared , at the end of the workshop Dr. Ahmed and Dr. Fadi answered the questions from the audience.
