Laboratory Facilities
The BSCE program has eight laboratory facilities that support its educational
activities. Laboratories are located in the ground floor of the College of Engineering building. In
addition to the specialized equipment that each laboratory contains, all the labs are equipped with basic utilities
such as DC and AC electric sources, voltage regulators, water supply, sinks and emergency showers. Laboratories also
have video projectors and a number of integrated personal computer systems to operate educational software. Every
student in the Program has the opportunity to have a hands-on experience and practice experimental work as the
number of students per experimental station ranges from three to five only.

Safety Measures in the Department Labs
To ensure the safety of the staff and students while working in the labs, the
latter have been equipped with different safety measures. The existing safety measures include Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE), such as safety vests, hard hats, safety goggles, gloves, and safety boots. There are also fire
extinguishers and fire sprinklers installed at different locations in the labs. Safety signs and emergency
evacuation plans are posted at different locations, as well.
In addition, the college has a "Safety and Security Committee" that organizes,
arranges, and observes all measures of safety for all the college labs. Each department has a representative in the
committee to arrange for the department labs safety requirements. Moreover, the university also has a committee for
"Chemical Pollution Control" that provides assistance and information on handling hazardous and chemical wastes in
the labs, and their disposal means.
